The World of Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy is a series of role playing games created by Square Enix Co. Ltd.  The company is a publicly listed entity on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and a creator of other popular game titles such as DragonQuest and Kingdom Hearts. Final Fantasy itself is a series of about  of 28 games all of which are popular and subject to undying fan loyalty.

The game has very many popular and unique concepts which are used in the world of Final Fantasy.  Airships are giant airborne vessels that may be used to transport the player in the overworld of Final Fantasy. Some games may give the player the ability to control the airship and chart its course and destination.

There are also different individuals in the Final Fantasy system. These characters are classified under different races  which are the Physical Classes , the Mixed Classes and the Magical Classes. The Physical Classes consist of the Fighters, the Monks, The Samurai, the Dragoons,  the Thieves, the Ninjas and the Hunters. The Mixed Classes consist of  the Red Mages, the Bards, the Beast Masters, the Dark Knights, the Paladins, the Mystic Knights, the Chemists, the Gamblers and the Mimes. Finally the Magical Classes consist of the Black Mages, the White Mage, the Summoners, the Blue Mages, the Time Mages and the Geomancers.

Different versions of Final Fantasy have different players that may or may not be present at any given time.  Other characters may also exist in the Final Fantasy series and these characters may not be playable characters but may serve one purpose or the other during the duration of the game being played. Certain fictional monsters known as Chocobos and Moogles appear in some games of the series. Other identities such as Goblins, Ogres, Giants, Bombs, Behemoths, Tonberries, Malboros , Cactuars and  Bahamut monsters  may appear during the duration of the game. Different other sorts of monsters exist as well and these monsters are the elemental monsters which take up the following identities – Efreeti or Ifrit (Fire Monster), Leviathan (Water Monster), and Shiva (Ice Monster). The only elemental monster with plural identities the lightening elemental monster which may take identities such as Quezacotl,  Ixion  and Ramuh.

Various aspects of the Final Fantasy series are derived from popular film , literature and even ancient mythology. You will find references to identities that bear semblance to people in Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Indian and even Aztec mythology.

Final Fantasy has a wide and growing army of fans and its popularity makes it one of the best–selling games of all time. Final Fantasy editions have appeared for virtually every game console on the market from the Sony Playstation, the Microsoft Xbox , the Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo Game Cube and many more. Personal Computer versions of the Final Fantasy series are also in existence.  The Final Fantasy game has it’s largest following in countries such as Japan where it was created and the United States as well. As of May 2006 Final Fantasy was the worlds fourth largest game franchise ever having sold 68 million units.
