The Legend Of Zelda Series
The Legend of Zelda was started in the year 1986 by Nintendo . The game was designed by famed game designer and pioneer Shigeru Miyamoto. Most games of the series feature a certain young boy called Link whose quest in the game is to accomplish a specific quest. This same quest was undertaken by a certain hero who bore his name in the past. The game starts off with Link being foisted into a certain battle situation where he meets the Princess Zelda and uncovers certain plots. Link has to successfully thwart these said plots and it is this aspect that makes the game play interesting.
Gameplay is always important in the games that make up the Legend of Zelda series, it is this gameplay that draws players back to each version of the game one edition after the other. Certain well crafted dungeons exist in each edition of these games and they are always notoriously difficult to get out of not to mention the intrinsic details that go into creating the said dungeons. It is one of the best selling franchises of all time and certainly a key element of Nintendo’s gaming history.
The first Legend of Zelda was created exclusively for the NES or Nintendo Entertainment System. It also started a whole new genre of gameplaying and involved certain characters that are now very popular in game lore today. In this first quest Link is summoned to defeat an adversary known as Ganon but he can only do this after retrieving said pieces of an element called the Triforce which Zelda has scattered throughout the land.
Zelda II was released in 1987 and focuses on the story of Link months after the events of the first edition. Most people assume it is the end of the game chronology as it is never referenced in other games.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was created for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in the year 1991 and it was crafted for 16–bit technology. Being true to the Zelda series this game is not chronological but focuses on the attempts of Link to obtain the Master sword necessary to defeat Ganon the thief who steals the Triforce.
Awakening a part of the Zelda series was released for the Nintendo Gameboy in 1993 but it was not a full fledged Zelda game just a version created specifically for the Gameboy console. In 1998 another Zelda game was released and the game was one of the most popular games ever created by Nintendo – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It was the first Zelda game created in a true 3 D environment and the game was the subject of various great reviews in gamer magazines.
The next Zelda edition was released in 2003 for the Nintendo Gamecube. The events of the game were set in a period hundreds of years after Ocarina. It was a game most players found a little frustrating and difficult at times but the game play was still fantastic. The most recent of the Zelda series , The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was created for the Wii console sometime late in 2006 and is a very long game indeed. This game introduces Link as an adult instead of a man.
