Choosing Your WarHammer Army

In order to do battle effectively you have to choose the right army that will fulfill your aims. This guide should help new players accomplish this most they can with what they have. Some new players enter the game of WarHammer with the wrong mentality and ultimately it is this wrong mentality that gets them killed in the end. This is not a definitive guide on the art of success in the game . The whole essence of learning and understanding the rules is knowing when to abide by them and when to violate these same rules.

In order to choose your army of battle you have to make certain decisions. These tips should guide you into making the best decisions when selecting the choice of army with which you wish to wreak havoc and do battle with your enemies.

I.) Choose What You May – You do not have to build an army that incorporates the most superb elements ever known to man.  It is not the army that you select that makes you the main element of note in the game. It is what you do with your army of choice that matters when playing the game.

II.) Relative Choice – Selections should be made based on what tasks you want  your army to carry out during the duration of the game.  Sometimes people make choices just because they make their armies look good during battle but they have no actual plan of what to do  with these various elements when battle starts. Find out the specific functions of each unit and what you can possibly do with them before launching out into battle.

III) Create a Sense of Balance  – Any army can be effective  but an army that isn’t lacking in any given department can make the difference between success and failure in a battle. When you choose an army make sure you pick certain elements that can assault or restrict the threats posed by the forces mustered by your various opponents.

IV) Plan of Action – Most people will create a plan of action whose success depends on the efficiency of one assault unit.  This is a terrible plan of action as it leaves no room for redundancy. What happens if the plans of this first unit fail? When selecting a plan of action find one plan that that involves certain elements of redundancy in the case of failure. Never assume any aspect about any unit in your army is unassailable, when you plan with redundancy in mind any success you achieve is a bonus, without it you only proceed deeper into greater risk.

IV) Army Mobility  – It is important that you have various elements of your army that have various forms of mobility in order to succeed. Some of these elements must be able to move at the slightest instance while other elements may remain static to some degree. Having an entire army restricted in movement  or fully fluid can rob you of the desired success. An appropriate mix of the right elements is necessary in order to succeed.
