Assaults Basics in WarHammer
Before you assault a target in the game you must first what top destroy and what you decide to leave standing in the game environments. These decisions while save you the risk of unnecessary wasting your ammunition and your forces in the field of battle.
I.) Choose Your Target – Wanton cowboy style shooting is bound to not only get you in trouble but possibly annihilated as well. Always choose what you really want to destroy first, never just start shooting because you see a target lying temptingly before you. This serves you with multiple advantages, first you can decide what is the best target to destroy, secondly you can focus on the total destruction of that target. You can add a third advantage which is the fact that you always get to save sparse resources for much more advantageous attacks.
II) Direction of Fire – Align your shooting squads in areas where they have a clear line of sight in order to subdue their intended targets. This move might leave them slightly open to return fire but sometimes you have to make some sacrifices if the target is big enough. Never leave a large force in an area with no targets, mobilize them against a force you can destroy.
III) Battle Cover – When on the attack prepare for the defence as well. What will you do if your opponent decides to retreat and leave you in the open. A plan of attack without an effective plan of retreat is the battle equivalent of a suicide mission.
IV) Low Chances of Success – Anything that cannot be killed effectively should be left alone. It makes no sense depleting half of your army against a target with no effective results. Do not waste your ammunition when there are little chances of success. Evaluate your options before you choose to attack.
In order to effectively set up and assault you need a lot of things to do. Some forms of shooting casualties may deprive you of the chance to get some form of success. Some basic forms of advice are listed below and in effect they should make your battle efforts quite successful.
a) Movement – move assault squads as far as possible when you can.
b) Learn the Art of the Assault – Assault squads may either be used to assault or counterassault a target. Master both tactics effectively especially the art of the counter assault where hit and run tactics should benefit you best.
c) All Squads are Useful – Never fail to understand the efficacy of various squads in attack. No squad is useless and all squads are effective in carrying out various tasks depending on what these tasks are.
d) Never the Best of the Best – Pick your battles wisely never pit the best of your assault squad against the best of your opponents assault squad. Use the best of your forces to attack the weakest and most expensive forces of your opponent. Never sacrifice your forces in meaningless shows of strength which are avoidable.
