Nintendo Wii
The Nintendo WII is tops right now for gamers who were fortunate enough to get their hands on this unique system before it sold out late last year. It was the #1 item on many a wish list but not everyone was granted the opportunity to own it.
Get to know your Nintendo WII by first going through your WII Menu. The WII offers a wide variety of entertainment options, as well as information and communication channels. Every member of your family should be able to find something on the WII that they enjoy.
Once you’ve gone through the menu create your own 3D caricature portrait that you can use on many games throughout the system. Each member of your family can have his or her own portrait that can be transported to friends’ house.
Curious as to what you should wear tomorrow? When the WII is connected to the internet it will give you the latest forecast in virtually any city around the globe as well as access to breaking news 24 hours a day,
At WII Shop you can download video game content and classic games once played on the NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and NEC TurboGrafx Platforms. You can also purchase WII points with a credit card or redeem them to download Virtual Console Games. At the end of March 2007 you will be able to redeem your points to download the brand new Opera Browser. This will allow you to surf the Internet from the comfort of your own couch. It will be free for WII owners to download until the end of July 2007.
Leaving messages for family members has also gotten a lot easier. Say goodbye to scribbling notes on pieces of paper that usually end up getting lost. The WII comes with a calendar based message board called WIIConnect 24 that allows you to leave messages for family members as well as friends. WIIConnect 24 connects your console and your Internet Connection 24 hours a day. It delivers surprises, game updates even if your system isn’t running. You’ll never know what you might find each day when you turn on your WII. You can also trade photos and send text messages to cell phone users.
The disc channel allows you to play either WII game discs or any of the other Nintendo Game Cube discs that you might own.
One final channel is the Photo Channel. You can retrieve digital photos from a SD memory card you insert into the WII console. This allows you to display your photos on the television screen after you manipulate them and add music from your MP3 Player.
Accessories for your WII include such items as the WII Remote, the Nunchuk, the Sensor Bar and the Classic Controller. These four items make using the above features a lot easier.
The WII remote makes gaming accessible to anyone and everyone no matter what ability they possess. According to Nintendo they wanted to create a remote control that was both inviting and sophisticated. They brought together both a remote control and motion-sensing technology to create a new age sort of device! In a game of tennis it will serve as a racket when you swing your arm and a steering wheel in a racing game when you turn your wrist. The WII remote also has a built in speaker, a rumble feature and an expansion port for additional input devices, such as the Nunchuk.
The Nunchuk has been designed to fit perfectly in a player’s hand and it connects to the WII Remote via the expansion port. It has the same motion-sensing technology but it also includes an analog stick to help in character movement. Players can use the analog stick to move their character while they use the WII Remote to perform specific movements. Both the WII Remote and the Nunchuk can be used in either the right or the left hand so the player can be comfortable when they play, something seldom not found with any other system.
The Sensor Bar allows for up to four remotes to be used at once allowing for amazing multi-player action!
Parents can rest assured knowing that the Nintendo WII has built-in parental controls. You choose the game or subject that is right for your child based on the games ESR8 rating. You also have access to additional parental control options when you connect your WII to the Internet. If you wish to play a game you can bypass the parental controls with a PIN code.
The Nintendo WII is a system for everyone regardless of age or ability and it elevates the video game to a whole new level. It combines technology with the power of the Internet to create an ever changing array of things for you to do.
